Understanding Gender In Psychology Is Changing
Youโve heard it before: Sugar and spice and everything niceโฆ Snips and snails and puppy dog tailsโฆ Pink is for girls, blue is for boysโฆ
So what do you do when meeting someone who has a little bit of sugar and a little bit of snails stuffed in their pockets? Or is kinda purple? Or a kaleidoscope of color?
Society is transitioning from a binary world of pinks and blues, girls and boys, to recognizing non-binary gender where oneโs identity is not just male or female, boy or girl, man or woman.ย
But, what does NON-BINARY mean?
Is it important to understand client pronouns in therapy?
Absolutely.
If youโre confused about what non-binary means or what to do when the person sitting in front of you uses they/them pronouns or a pronoun youโve never heard before, watch this FREE video from Sarah Burgamy, Psy.D., to learn about non-binary identities.
