Can we address social issues in therapy and simultaneously examine our own place in those social issues? In this discourse, Pat and Janina speak to the influence of Eurocentric models on the field of Psychology and the effects of implicit bias on client relationships.

Pat Ogden, PhD, is a pioneer in somatic psychology, the creator of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy method, and founder of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. Dr. Ogden is trained in a wide variety of somatic and psychotherapeutic approaches, and has over 45 years of experience working with individuals and groups. She is co-founder of the Hakomi Institute, past faculty of Naropa University (1985-2005), a clinician, consultant, and sought after international lecturer.

Janina Fisher, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and a former instructor, Harvard Medical  School.  An international expert on the treatment of trauma, she is the founder of Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment  (TIST) and an Advisory Board member of the Trauma Research Foundation. Dr. Fisher is the author of Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Self-Alienation (2017), Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma: a Workbook for Survivors and Therapists (2021), and The Living Legacy Instructional Flip Chart (2022). She is best known for her work on integrating mindfulness-based and somatic interventions into trauma treatment.
