Join Drs. Burgamy and Ehrensaft for a thoughtful and engaging conversation regarding the gender affirmative model. What is it and what does affirming really mean anyway? Is it possible for a gender diverse journey to be more than a series of struggles and hardship – might it even be possible for it to be fulfilling, connecting, and celebratory? What is the relationship between gender dysphoria and gender euphoria, and what is the same or different if a child is three, seven, twelve, or sixteen years old?

Diane Ehrensaft, Ph.D. is the author of numerous books on the subjects of child development, gender, gender-nonconforming and transgender children and youth, parenting, parent-child relationships, LGBTQI families, and psychological issues for families using assisted reproductive technology, including The Gender Creative Child and Gender Born, Gender Made. She is the Director of Mental Health and founding member of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Child and Adolescent Gender Center as well as an adjunct associate professor of pediatrics at UCSF. Dr. Ehrensaft is also a faculty member of the WPATH Gender Education Institute and also a member of the team writing the WPATH new Standards of Care (v. 8).
