What happens if you see the act of changing society as an assignment instead of a source of shame and guilt? Dr. Kornfield explores the idea that our culture is in the midst of a difficult process that will eventually give birth to something new. He and Francesca also discuss Buddha, Dharma, holding suffering with compassion, and creating a safe, honorable, and inclusive space for all.

Jack Kornfield, PhD, is a trained Buddhist monk, educator, and co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and the Spirit Rock Center in Woodacre, California. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and has taught in centers and universities worldwide, led International Buddhist Teacher meetings, and worked with many of the great teachers of our time. Jack is one of the key teachers to introduce Buddhist mindfulness practice to the West and his books have sold millions of copies and have been translated into 20 different languages worldwide.

Francesca Maximé, LMSW, is a Haitian-Dominican Italian-American licensed somatic psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher, anti-racism educator, and award-winning poet/author in Brooklyn, New York. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University. Maximé offers services to help address trauma, process grief, and reduce stress for adults, groups, and organizations. She is the host of the ReRooted podcast on Ram Dass’s Be Here Now Network. In 2019, Francesca received the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies Outstanding Student Advocacy & Service Award.
