Often labeled “untreatable,” these individuals get diagnosed as personality disordered, suicidal, self-harming, substance-abusing, eating disordered, or dissociative. For these trauma survivors, therapy becomes a crisis center whose goal is simply to ensure the client’s safety.

TIST Certified practitioners are well-prepared to work with any kind of trauma, even complex and dissociative cases. Over the next nine months, you will learn directly from TIST creator Dr. Janina Fisher in three training levels, taught live online:
In TIST Level 1, you will learn the foundation of the model
In TIST Level 2, you will deepen your understanding of working with trauma, specifically complex trauma.

TIST Level 1:
In Level 1, you will be introduced to Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), a model that empowers trauma survivors to overcome self-destructive and addictive behaviors. This approach focuses on treating the effects of traumatic events – as opposed to treating the event itself – and on managing unsafe and addictive impulses as trauma-driven rather than manipulative and attention-seeking.

TIST Level 2:
In TIST Level 2, we transition from the theory that was covered in Level 1 into becoming more fluent and practiced at working with trauma, particularly complex trauma. You will develop the ability to be on the same wavelength as your client’s parts, allowing you to more deeply understand and communicate with them. By the end of Level 2, you will become more nuanced and have more skill in navigating interventions, even with the most difficult or resistant clients. You will be able to use the TIST model not just intellectually, but more energetically so that your clients can feel it.

TIST Level 3:
The Level 3 training provides twelve hours of live interactive training with Janina over 2 months. In between each training session, you will be supported with six practice sessions led by an experienced Senior Facilitator. In these small dynamic practice sessions, limited to 8 people, you will have the opportunity to practice TIST principles and theory with your fellow colleagues and receive thoughtful and supportive feedback in real time. Janina Fisher, Ph.D.
Janina Fisher, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and a former instructor, Harvard Medical School. An international expert on the treatment of trauma, she is the founder of Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) and an Advisory Board member of the Trauma Research Foundation. Dr. Fisher is the author of Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Self-Alienation (2017), Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma: a Workbook for Survivors and Therapists (2021), and The Living Legacy Instructional Flip Chart (2022). She is best known for her work on integrating mindfulness-based and somatic interventions into trauma treatment.
