Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) Level 2 Training

With Janina Fisher, Ph.D.

Next Live Cohort Starts September 2026!

Welcome Janina Fisher

Welcome!

Thank you for having completed TIST 1! I'm so glad you've come back to continue this learning journey.

There are so many clients out there who feel stigmatized, misunderstood, or like they can't be helped. They've been to therapy before, but it just hasn't worked.

The reason these clients haven't seen progress is because they haven't encountered the TIST model.

And that's why we want to get as many folks as possible trained in this model because it can and will help survivors of trauma.

Many of you came to the TIST method wanting guidance on working with your very difficult clients. Now that you've learned the concepts and foundational skills, you are ready to enter the next level.

In TIST Level 2, we transition from the theory and techiques covered in TIST Level 1 into becoming more fluent and practiced at working with TIST, particularly with complex trauma.

As TIST 2 progresses, you will develop the ability to be on the same wavelength as your client's parts, allowing you to help clients more deeply understand and communicate with them. Your work with both client and parts will become more nuanced, and you will have more skill in navigating interventions with even the most difficult or resistant clients.

In TIST Level 2 you will gain proficiency in:

  • The Building Blocks of a Skilled TIST Therapist
  • The Art of Working with Protector Parts
  • The Do's and Don'ts of TIST
  • Challenges of Implementing the TIST Model with DID Clients
  • Extreme Cases: Ritual Abuse, Trafficking, Sadistic and Malevolent Abuse
  • Resolution of Traumatic Memory

By the end of Level 2, you will have a greater ability to use the TIST model not just intellectually, but more energetically so that your clients can feel it.

Never feel like you are totally paralyzed or being jerked around by extreme cases again. Develop fluency in the language of TIST so that you donโ€™t have to think out what you are doing and can be more present with your clients. ย  Learn to model what it is like to be compasionately connected to traumatized young parts.

See the incredible shifts in your own clients as the process unfolds.

We look forward to joining you on this next step of your journey.

Warmly,

Janina Fisher and
Academy of Therapy Wisdom

Why take Level 2?

TIST Level 2 graduates will be included in Janina's forthcoming international therapist map, hosted on her personal website.

Interview with Dr. Frank Anderson - Building Trust with Internal Parts

Frank Anderson is a psychiatrist, IFS practitioner and trainer, and author of the forthcoming book, "Transcending Trauma: Healing Complex PTSD with Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy." We'll talk about empathy as an essential ingredient in healing trauma and how to understand the difference between compassion and empathy. Frank's emphasis on the importance of helping clients build empathy and compassion for their wounded younger selves is not to be missed!

Level 2 Training

Module One

Live Session: September 25th, 9-11am PDT

The Building Blocks of a Skilled TIST Therapist

The 'building blocks' of TIST help to get clients interested in this new approach, yet the skills alone can seem like a very intellectual way of working at first. It can be stabilizing for the client to 'get' the model, but it doesn't touch the underlying wounds of the child parts. How do we get from theoretical ideas to a way of working that helps the client connect emotionally to the part? In this module, we will teach you how to help clients truly listen to their parts and give them a voice by becoming 'parts whisperers' ourselves.

We will discuss:

  • Stimulating the client's attunement
  • Role model compassionate understanding
  • Becoming vocal advocates for the parts
The Building Blocks of a Skilled TIST Therapist
The Art of Working with Protector Parts

Module Two

Live Session: October 9th, 2026 9-11am PDT

The Art of Working with Protector Parts

In this module, youโ€™ll develop the skills to help your clients validate the protectors, earn their respect and trust, and negotiate new understandings. Without a way of working with protector parts, clients and therapists will be blocked at every turn. In TIST, we assume that all resistance, stuckness, dissociating or spacing out, and difficulties in collaboration reflect the protectorsโ€™ inherent distrust of the therapist and therapy. Rather than working around these parts, learn the โ€˜artโ€™ of working with them to respect their roles in survival and their protective intentions, no matter how destructive their behavior.

We will discuss:

  • How to access wounded parts without de-stabilizing the client
  • The different protector parts
  • How to communicate and negotiate with protectors

Module Three

Live Session: October 23rd, 2026 9-11am PDT

The Do's and Don'ts of TIST

Learning any new model requires repetition and simplification and then more repetition-the opposite of what we often do with complex clients. To support your learning in Level 2, this module covers the simple "Do's and Don'ts" of working with TIST-from what we should 'always' do to what we should 'never' do. You'll learn what you no longer have to worry about and what you should always be concerned about. It will help you to focus your efforts so that the work is more effective and to cultivate patience for the slow process of moving from a chaotic, overwhelmed sense of a defective self to an organized sense of a resilient system and the parts that comprise it.

We will discuss:

  • Challenges of strengthening the normal life part
  • The importance of inner communication
  • The 10 rules of TIST
module-3-1
module-4-1 (1)

Module Four

Live Session: November 6th, 2026 9-11am PDT

Challenges of Implementing the TIST Model with DID Clients

Clients with DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder pose a special set of challenges for the therapist as well as the client. The independence of the different parts, the losses of consciousness and time, the impulsive behavior of parts acting 'behind the back' of the Normal Life self, and the self-destructive urges overwhelm the client and sometimes the therapist, too. In the therapy, parts 'come out' to make a relational connection to the therapist followed by other parts that push the therapist away or sabotage the therapy. Learning how to navigate these additional complexities with TIST helps to lower the temperature and empower the client.

We will discuss:

  • Differences in treating DID clients
  • Navigating the chaos
  • "Behind the back" communication

Module Five

Live Session: November 20th, 2026 9-11am PDT

Extreme Cases: Ritual Abuse, Trafficking, Sadistic and Malevolent Abuse

Many complex fragmented or dissociative clients come to therapy to deal with the effects of extreme sadistic or malevolent traumatic experiences, such as ritual abuse, satanic cult abuse, human trafficking, mind control practices, or other organized group traumas. These clients are generally highly symptomatic, more fragmented, and more easily highjacked by extreme parts adapted to extreme circumstances. In these types of trauma, hypnosis, post-hypnotic suggestion, and staged experiences stimulate anticipatory fears on top of here-and-now terror, instill a sense of being complicit and 'bad,' and condition negative beliefs meant to keep the client quiet and compliant for years to come. The result is an extremely dysregulated nervous system, shattered self-esteem, and the potential for self-destructive behavior. Being able to help these clients requires the therapist understanding of the nature of these extreme experiences.

We will discuss:

  • Special challenges of treating extreme event trauma
  • Memory for extreme events
  • Resolving extreme events
module-5
module-6

Module Six

Live Session: December 4th, 2026 9-11am PDT

Resolution of Traumatic Memory

Advances in our understanding of trauma have directed us toward the goal of resolving implicit and explicit components of memory that continue to intrude on the client's present experience. From that viewpoint, not all of the many events must be processed unless necessary to resolve the implicit memories that are still activated, and treating implicit memory is seen as more important to the resolution of trauma than treating explicit memory. To further complicate the issue of memory, fragmentation of the personality results in fragmentation of implicit and explicit memory, in parts that block disclosure and parts that are desperate to tell someone, and in a sense of clear and present danger now. Each part anxiously anticipates a repetition of the past without any sense that 'it' is over. How do we help clients resolve the past when the past is still present for the parts?

We will discuss:

  • Addressing traumatic memory
  • Trauma processing for fragmented selves
  • Repairing the traumatic past

- Crystal H.

Five blue stars

"It has changed the language I use with clients and created so much space in me. I feel much less anxious as a therapist."

-Jennifer R.

Five blue stars

"The course provides me with a very specific frame to keep the focus on what client is experiencing rather than being in their head. It also takes me as the therapist out of the middle many times. I believe it has been helpful in my increased growth and ability to fine-tune my voice and style as a therapist."

-Diane G.

Five blue stars

"I am in love with Janina's model. It is body-based, collaborative, and anti-oppressive. It has helped me develop more compassion for my clients' parts, my own parts, and family members' parts too."

-Natasha M.

Five blue stars

"Clients have immediate benefits and I am less stressed about issues I didn't know how to help them towards resolution. Clients commented on how helpful a session was after explaining the TIST model to them."

-Martha L.

Five blue stars

"It has also given me a road map to navigate with clients who have deeper issues. I feel more comfortable using the road maps shared to better help my clients evolve, release and grow. When I have explained what is going on for my clients using the tools/handouts shared, a light goes off inside them and they totally agree with the information. They feel a sense of gratitude (as do I) that someone has been able to depict so clearly what is happening inside them. They also feel that I understand them more than anyone else has in the past."

-MAH

Five blue stars

"This is the best course I have taken in my life. Janina integrates my favorite models in one. This has enriched my practice immensely and my own life."

-Maria C.

Five blue stars

"Janina brought forward exactly what was missing for me and I am so very grateful to be able to help in an area I was not sure how to truly be helpful. The good results have been immediate."

-Lizzie A.

Five blue stars

"My clients are able to make better sense of their symptoms and the Structural Dissociation model seems easier for them to grasp than the IFS model."

-Shannon W.

Five blue stars

"The progress clients have made since I have begun using TIST has been incredible! The model helps clients reduce shame, increase their ability for self-care, and improve abilities to set boundaries. Clients who struggle with codependent relationships are becoming able to soothe cling responses and interpersonal anxiety. The impact on clients has been incredible! I have even seen a client with DID more safely be able to interact with parts in and outside of sessions. It has also caused me to start conceptualizing clients differently and has helped me have direction for working with clients that previously would have been difficult for me to progress with."

-Jennifer W.

Five blue stars

"It has given me a trauma model that feels like it is stabilizing and not further wounding my clients."

-Kelly P.

Five blue stars

"I also really benefited from seeing videos of Janina working with clients; it allowed me to understand what TIST looks like applied moment-to-moment in sessions, which was the next step I needed after having re-read "Healing the Fragmented Selves'' over five times in the last 3 years."
