Deirdre Fay, MSW
Hello
Deirdre Fay, MSW, knows the heavy toll of shame firsthand. She experienced horrible self-doubt that often catapulted her into shame spirals.
“I didn’t have a supportive family system or parents who understood my unique qualities. My energy was too much for them; I was too impulsive, too spontaneous, too, too, too much of everything.
And so I grew up ashamed of who I was, believing there was something wrong with me. As a child, that pain was intense.”
When Deirdre started studying attachment theory, she was able to connect the dots between her shame and attachment wounds. But knowledge alone didn’t bring relief.
She spent 30 years learning and practicing techniques to release the shame stored in her body, seeking calm, ease, and an open heart.
Now, she’s ready to share her wisdom to help others dissolve their shame.
The 4 Superpowers to Dissolve Shame is for people who:
- Struggle with self-consciousness
- Feel uncomfortable in their own skin
- Seek approval from others
- Question their worthiness of love and acceptance

Overview
This module will orient you to the course, show you the steps for treating shame that hinders your life, and leave you with a powerful practice to begin the process of dissolving shame.
Transform Regret & Shame into Compassion
In Module 2, you’ll learn how shame is rooted in attachment wounds and develop an understanding of where shame is held in the body and manifests in our lives. Deirdre will share a story that completely shifted how she thinks about shame. And you will learn two compassion practices to begin dissolving shame in your own life.
Transform Neediness into Secure Vulnerability
Research shows that we need balance to contain and absorb the painful negative effects of shame on our psyche and body. The remedy for shame disorders is to create a larger field of consciousness in which the shame can be absorbed. For those who have come from neglectful or abusive environments, this balance doesn’t come naturally, even when one’s heart longs for reassurance, warmth, kindness, and validation. Learn how to reframe neediness as a valuable, necessary trait, and how to place one’s needs in a larger context to create more options and opportunity for healing.
Transform Triggers into Inner Guidance
As adults, our developmental needs are different than they were as a child. Our grown-up task — to develop as a person — requires knowing our own self, exploring what we need internally first, and then finding healthy ways to get those needs met externally with others and with experiences that engage and nourish those needs. To fulfill those tasks, we need to develop our inner guidance. In this module, you’ll learn the essential practices to build a solid sense of self.
Transform Possibility into Reality
In the final module, we explore how to develop choice points… new options and behaviors that dissolve the shame spiral. You’ll learn meditation, self-assessment, and experiential practices to widen your possibilities and develop new ways of being.
- Get out of your head and live in a safe, secure body (without the lightening bolt of shame ruling you any more)
- Unravel shame memories without doubting yourself or feeling you’re not enough or unworthy of love, kindness and goodness
- Savor knowing you’re lovable even when others get upset or withdraw their approval
- Be seen and known, valued for your unique expression in the world, no longer shutting off contact or disappearing inside where no one can reach you anymore
